I received a Rusty Wallace Driving Experience gift of 16 laps driving a Nascar at Auto Club Speedway. Knowing I was out of shape I asked the family for an upper body strengthening class to help me get stronger.  My daughter bought me a 1 month gift at Articulations Pilates Studio and I started in January. As I got stronger I increased my classes to twice a week. Besides gaining strength in my core I also improved my balance.  Last Saturday was the big day and (not going to lie I was scared and excited) I raced 130 – 140 mph with 6 other racers and finished second.  Not bad for an old Grandma. My Grandkids were my cheering crowd and I could hear them from the race car. My husband said “Now that you have completed the Driving Experience I guess you don’t need to keep going to Pilates Class”.  My response was, “You guessed wrong…….this class is me time“. It has been 6 months and I am stronger and healthier than I have been in a long time. I have built friendships and really enjoy the Pilate instructors.  I am a happier and healthier………..ummmmm maybe I will take up surfing next. Better get to my next Pilates class.

Since beginning Pilates, I can’t remember the last time I woke up with a backache.  It used to be an every day occurrence and I had learned to live with it.  Now, I feel strong and my muscles are toned and have definition that has never been there before.  I used to use Pilates DVD’s at home and I wasn’t confident that I would find a studio in Riverside but I actually found two.  Articulations was closer to my home so I gave you a try first.  The first time I arrived in the studio I was welcomed by Tricia and found the studio to be perfect in every way – clean, organized, inviting, and just the right size.  The other studio took a week to get back to me, but by then I was already enrolled and enjoying my new Pilates workouts with Articulations.  The personal care and attention I receive and the wonderful staff are what really sets you guys apart.  The classes are small enough that you get the care and correction you need.  If you’re on the fence about starting Pilates – JUST DO IT!  I would strongly encourage you to start with private or semi-private sessions.  Even though I had some exposure to Pilates before, I had such bad form and really needed that close attention to learn the muscle connections to benefit most from the movements and not injure myself.  Your best body and health benefits await you!

I have always been fairly active, but since starting Pilates, I’ve seen changes in my body that I never thought possible.  I’m in much better shape than I was in my 20’s and 30’s!  Articulations has such a friendly and encouraging environment.  The instructors all have different backgrounds so each class is unique and inspiring.  I’ve been taking Cindy’s classes since the studio opened, and it’s so clear that Tricia really cares about what she’s doing – and that feeling is infectious!  Articulations isn’t like any other studios.  I’m not a nameless person here.  All of the instructors clearly enjoy what they’re doing and are very knowledgeable about the practice of Pilates.  Even in the larger classes, they’re able to modify each exercise to accommodate everyone’s level of fitness and experience.  I’m always challenged and have never found a studio where I’m more at home.  Pilates is amazing – it challenges you physically and mentally and it’s the type of exercise that continues to challenge you over time.  It’s even great for people who are recovering from an injury since it’s so easy on your joints and the emphasis is on your core which helps strengthen your back.  You’ll be amazed at how much better you look, move, and feel.
